"I think that I shall
never see
A poem lovely as a tree."
- Joyce Kilmer
Trees are all around us, the leafy giants
of our urban landscape. They provide shade from the sun,
shelter from the wind, and are the filtration systems for
the very air we breathe. We seek shelter beneath them in
the rain, behind them for privacy, and in them for games
of hide and seek. It is easy to take them for granted, but
they need love, too. I started Blue Sky Tree Service to
work with trees and the people who love them.
I am a climbing arborist with nearly a decade
of experience. I've been certified through the International
Society of Arboriculture as a Climber Specialist, and a
Certified Arborist. I specialize in natural form pruning,
addressing the arboreal canopy from the inside out by ascending
the tree using tried and true rope and saddle style. For
me, this is the best way to prune properly, as I can literally
climb the entire canopy and assess overall fitness as well
as aesthetic concerns like structure (scaffolding) and shape
(balance). Every tree is unique, and every prune is part
art and part science.
Pruning is important for trees at all stages
of growth. As juveniles they need proper scaffold establishment,
or taking out the branches that will cause problems later,
as well as eliminating structurally unsound/unsightly limbs.
It's a bit like braces for a teenager. Later, in post-juvenility
and early maturity, it is necessary to eliminate sucker
growth, further establish and maintain a healthy, appealing
canopy, and to lighten the overall density. Major damage
to large limbs from snow and wind weight/pressure can be
mitigated through thoughtful thinning. In maturity, it is
important to monitor for defects and eliminate unsightly
and dangerous dead branches.
Removing trees is also a necessary part of
arboriculture and management of the urban landscape. It
can be a tricky undertaking, especially if you have a tree
in a tight space, over a house, over power or communication
wires, or surrounded by delicate landscaping. I've removed
trees of all sizes in all kinds of settings, some by felling,
other through painstaking control of cut pieces using ropes
and rigging, some with a combination of the two.
If you have questions about your trees, give
me a call. Estimates are always free. I bid and perform
all the work myself, every job is as important to me as
it is to you, and can be as custom as you'd like. Thank
you for taking the time to check out my website, and if
you'd like to talk trees, or contact for estimate
, please
e-mail through this site or give
me a call.
